The editor accelerates the search for a successor to Steve Ballmer to quickly close the current organizational floating, which is not good for business.
Microsoft wants to find its CEO before the end of the year.
Things seem to be speeding towards Microsoft. The editor was given a year to find a successor to Steve Ballmer, who announced his retirement last August.According to Bloomberg, the goal now is to appoint a new head before the end of the year, just to finish as soon as possible this period of uncertainty.
The board of directors of Microsoft is beginning to reduce its list of potential candidates, which should soon lead to a "short list". Several big names have already been approached Alan Mulally, Ford CEO, Stephen Elop, Nokia's former CEO, Tony Bates, Executive Vice President of Microsoft, Paul Maritz, CEO of Pivotal, or John Donahoe, eBay CEO. The latter would have declined the offer.
If time is short, it is for organizational reasons. Steve Ballmer has initiated a major overhaul of divisions around two main areas: terminals and services. But until the new CEO is in place, a number of appointments remain outstanding, according to The Verge. This has the effect of handicap the running of the business, particularly in the markets for mobile devices where it faces fierce competition from Google and Apple. Steve Ballmer therefore leave no doubt retire earlier than expected.
