Adobe hacked: 2.9 million customer accounts compromised

Adobe unveiled an intrusion into its servers. The hackers had access to usernames and passwords of customers, but also the names and credit card numbers.

L'éditeur a prévenu les clients concernés par cette attaque.
The editor warned customers affected by this attack.
This is a note from his security director, Brad Arkin on the company blog, the publisher of software and online services Adobe announced October 3, 2013 have been the target of a cyber attack .
And it is a major intrusion. Brad Arkin specifies that cybercriminals have gained access to usernames and passwords for enterprise customers. They would probably have copied data relating to 2.9 million customers Adobe, including credit card numbers and expiration date.
"For the moment, we do not think that hackers were able to get the encrypted credit card numbers in our systems," however, the official said. Adobe is trying to reset passwords of all relevant accounts and inform those whose bank details were affected by the attack. The company also warned his own bank and the judicial authorities.
In addition, Brad Arkin reported that the attackers had also had access to the source code of"many products of the publisher," including Adobe Acrobat, ColdFusion and ColdFusion Builder. This could allow criminals to more easily detect vulnerabilities in applications.

Europe wants to legislate

This is not the first Adobe mishap this year. In June, the publisher decided to offer its flagship software through a year or payable in monthly subscription. Unfortunately, he only took a few days of pirates to give free access to the rest of Creative Cloud .
According to our colleague the Journal du Net, the attack could have taken place in mid-August. In Europe, the draft regulations on personal data, which will be voted on in the spring of 2014, wants to force companies victims of cyber attacks, or a fault, to a quick and detailed public statement to alert public.
